What is Kitwe Vocational Training Centre (KVTC)?
Kitwe Vocational Training Centre (KVTC) is a government-owned technical and vocational education institution located in Kitwe, Copperbelt Province, Zambia. Established in 1975, KVTC provides practical skills training to youth and adults to enhance their employability and support Zambia's industrial development.

What are KVTC's operating hours?
KVTC operates from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Administrative offices are open during these hours. Some workshops and practical sessions may have extended hours based on the program requirements.
The campus is closed on weekends and public holidays, unless there are special training programs or events scheduled.
Admissions
What are the admission requirements for KVTC?
Admission requirements vary by program but generally include:
- Completion of Grade 9 or Grade 12 (depending on the program)
- Minimum age of 16 years
- Copy of national registration card or birth certificate
- Academic certificates or transcripts
- Passport-sized photographs
- Medical report (for certain technical programs)

When is the application period?
KVTC has two main intake periods:
- January Intake: Applications open in September and close in November of the preceding year.
- August Intake: Applications open in April and close in June of the same year.
Some short courses and certificate programs may have rolling admissions throughout the year. We recommend checking our website or contacting the admissions office for the most current information.
How can I apply to KVTC?

- In-Person Application: Collect an application form from our admissions office at the KVTC campus in Kitwe.

What courses does KVTC offer?
KVTC offers a wide range of vocational and technical programs across several departments:

We offer certificate, diploma, and trade test certification programs with durations ranging from 6 months to 3 years.
Do you offer short courses or part-time programs?
Yes, KVTC offers various short courses and part-time programs designed for working professionals and those seeking specific skills upgrades. These include:
- Basic computer literacy (3 months)
- Entrepreneurship skills (2 months)
- Welding certification (4 months)
- Plumbing fundamentals (3 months)
- Food handling and safety (6 weeks)
Part-time classes are typically held in the evenings (5:00 PM - 8:00 PM) or on weekends. Contact our programs office for the current schedule of short courses.

Fees & Funding
What are the tuition fees at KVTC?
Tuition fees at KVTC vary depending on the program and duration. As a government institution, our fees are highly subsidized and affordable. Approximate annual fees range from:
- Certificate programs: ZMW 3,000 - ZMW 5,000 per year
- Diploma programs: ZMW 4,000 - ZMW 7,000 per year
- Trade test programs: ZMW 2,500 - ZMW 4,500 per year
Additional costs may include registration fees, examination fees, workshop materials, and protective clothing for certain programs. Detailed fee structures are provided upon application.
Are there scholarships or financial aid options available?
Yes, KVTC offers several financial assistance options for eligible students:
- Government Bursaries: Available for academically outstanding students with financial need
